I enjoy introducing newcomers to the wonders of the captivating North Coast and inland Valleys where I make my home. I see each person who looks for property here as a potential neighbor: new people and fresh ideas keep a community vibrant.

During the 16 years that I have been with Mendo Realty I have seen a lot of changes — especially, of course, in the value of property. The Village of Mendocino is prettier and the business climate throughout the area is better now than it was when I began here. There are many more choices in restaurants, entertainment and retail services. What has not changed is the passion of the people for what happens to their community and the beauty of the surroundings in which they live.

For a newcomer there is so much to know about country living that a good part of my job is educating buyers about things like wells and septic systems — not very glamorous, but essential, to be sure. I can get you up-to-date with the basics and point you to the pros who will demystify the process of acclimating to a country lifestyle. The small town atmosphere almost ensures that bad contractors or suppliers don't last long.

I've had a real estate license for more than 25 years but it was not my first career. I had a parallel life as a producer/director and writer in television and film for 30 years in New York and LA. You may have seen my work on A&E and the History Channel: Biography, History Traveler and Histories Mysteries series. Some of my other credits include: Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman; NBC White Papers; Entertainment Tonight; General Hospital, and work for the Disney Channel and HBO. I was also an Executive Producer for KNBC. The skills I acquired during those years in the entertainment and news business — especially in negotiating contracts and administration — have been a great asset to my work in real estate.

My husband, Ernie, and I live in a Japanese Pole house overlooking the Anderson Valley wine country. We share our mountain top with Zoe, our Lhasa Apso; Gracie Joy, a Maltese; kitty Chloe and a changing panoply of wild creatures.
